Mildred (Babe) Lucille Munro

Mildred (Babe) Lucille Munro, age 94, a long-time Janesville area resident died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Rock Haven. Mildred was born on August 23, 1922 in Jefferson, WI, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Carlson) Martsolf. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1941. Following graduation Mildred worked at Parker Pen Company until her marriage to James J. Munro on May 15, 1943. She then became a full time wife and stay at home mother. When her children became older, she became an Avon lady and sold cosmetics door to door. She also clerked for a time in the Bostwick’s dress shop. Later, she went to work for her sister, Laura who managed the Fannie Mae Candy Store in downtown Janesville. When her sister retired, Mildred became store manager which she did until her retirement. Mildred was always a hard worker who enjoyed all of her jobs, especially during the time she was a full-time wife and mother. Mildred was a member of First Lutheran Church. She also was a founding member of the “41 Club”, a group of women who graduated from the Janesville High School Class of 1941 and who continue to get together at this time as they are able.
Surviving are her children, Sally (Ron) King of Janesville, Larry (Mary) Munro of Edgerton, James W. Munro of Janesville, her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Sauter, Tracy Penney, Chris Munro, Nick Munro, her foster granddaughter, Aften (Matt) Kinserdahl, her great-grandchildren, Charlie Sauter, Courtney Sauter, Landon Munro, Aiden Wellnitz, Bryan Kinserdahl, Adam Kinserdahl, Piper Kinserdahl, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, James Munro on August 22, 2014. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her grandson, Alex Munro, her brothers, Bud Martsold and Cliff Martsold, her sisters, Laura Davis and Viola Badger and her step-brother, Gib Hoag.

Services will at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Avenue, Janesville. Rev. James Melvin will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. (608-741-1713).
